Project Summary:
The blades of 15 G90-2MW wind turbines, commissioned in 2010, were thoroughly analyzed as part of an annual blade inspection program carried out by the Windrix team.
Implementation:
Using industrial-grade drone technology and advanced imaging tools, all visuals were processed through AI-based filtering systems and evaluated by expert blade engineers.
Findings:
The inspection revealed significant structural anomalies that could affect turbine performance and safety, including major CAT5-level cracks, as well as CAT3–CAT4 level damages such as Trailing Edge Open Bonding Line, Lightning Strike, and Major Structural Cracks.
Results and Added Value:
Thanks to Windrix’s fast image processing and reporting capabilities, turbine shutdowns were initiated proactively, enabling repair operations to start without delay. This approach led to:
• Prevention of larger structural damage and long-term turbine downtime
• Introduction of cost-effective maintenance and repair plans
• Budget protection for the client and uninterrupted energy production
At Windrix, we take pride in using data-driven insight and technical expertise to maximize the operational efficiency of our clients’ wind assets.
